2025 CRCHA Fall Classic Snaffle Bit Futurity, Derby & Horse Show Shines in Paso Robles with Record Payouts and Exceptional Performances

Paso Robles, California — November 9–16, 2025

The California Reined Cow Horse Association (CRCHA) proudly wrapped up an outstanding week of competition at the 2025 Fall Classic Snaffle Bit Futurity, Derby, and Horse Show, held at the Paso Robles Event Center. Rain certainly made its presence known, but it never dampened the intensity in the show pen or the enthusiasm of exhibitors and spectators who traveled from across the western United States to compete in this premier NRCHA-approved event. Over eight incredible days, Paso Robles hosted the largest crowd and highest number of entries in CRCHA event history—463 in total—culminating in a record-breaking payout of $502,999.97.

This year’s Fall Classic was proudly presented by Red Arrow Ranch and the Red Arrow Ranch Stallion Station Incentive. As the event’s Presenting Sponsor, Red Arrow Ranch played a vital role in elevating the overall production, visibility, and exhibitor experience of the Fall Classic. CRCHA also extends special appreciation to JJ Fisher Construction, our Arena Equipment & Ground Sponsor, whose major support ensured exceptional footing and arena conditions throughout the week.

Additional support came from major event sponsors. Booth Ranches sponsored the Open Futurity & Open Derby; Magical Voodoo sponsored the Limited Open Futurity & Derby; Stylin Metal supported the Non Pro Futurity divisions; KanDu Ranch sponsored the Non Pro Derby divisions; SC Ranch Co., Inc. supported the Non Pro Boxing Futurity; Santa Lucia Farm sponsored the Fall Classic Horse Show; and the Double R Ranch supported the Ronnie Richards Memorial Open Bridle. CRCHA welcomed new horse show sponsors this year, including Gould Auctions (Open Hackamore & Open Two Rein), Les Oswald Performance Horses (Non Pro Boxing divisions), and Silver Star Saddlery (Non Pro Bridle divisions & Non Pro Box Drive).

Prize money reached new heights, with total show payouts climbing to $502,999.97. Aged-event earnings accounted for $459,500, including $250,625 in the Open Futurity, $45,125 in the Non Pro Futurity, $140,875 in the Open Derby, $42,875 in the Non Pro Derby, and $17,250 in the Ronnie Richards Memorial Open Bridle. Additional payouts were awarded across the full slate of horse show classes, making the 2025 Fall Classic one of the most lucrative events CRCHA has ever produced.

Competition in the futurity divisions—presented by Booth Ranches (Open), Magical Voodoo (Limited Open), Stylin Metal (Non Pro), and SC Ranch Co., Inc. (Non Pro Boxing)—was fierce. Shiny Yellow Scooter, ridden by Jared Jones and owned by Jayne Vatcher, claimed both the Open Futurity and Intermediate Open Futurity titles with a cumulative 655.5 and earned $45,000. Jones also received the prestigious Perpetual Doug Williamson Memorial Open Futurity Trophy, presented for only the second time in CRCHA history. Reserve Champion honors went to Tha Rizzler, ridden by Nicholas Dowers for Triple D Ranches LLC, scoring 654 and earning $20,000. Additional futurity champions included Smart Bonny Blu, ridden by Titus Covington for Rock Rose Ranches, who captured the Limited Open Futurity; The Dane Ger Zone, ridden by Clay Damuth for owner Tara Tiffany Heckman, who topped the Level 1 Open Futurity; Trashin, shown by Jayson Fisher to win the Non Pro Futurity; Little Red Scooter, ridden by owner Tyler Follett, who swept both the Intermediate and Limited Non Pro Futurity; and Reyllie Stunning, ridden by Vanessa Stevens for Charles Stevens, who won the Non Pro Boxing Futurity.

The Derby divisions—presented by Booth Ranches (Open), Magical Voodoo (Limited Open), and KanDu Ranch (Non Pro)—continued the excitement, led by an exceptional performance from The Midnight Train, ridden by Sarah Dawson and owned by Beverly Servi, who secured the Open Derby Championship with a masterful composite. Reserve Open Derby honors resulted in a tie between Mahogany Teakwood, ridden by Phillip Ralls for Moore Farming LLC, and Magical Katt, ridden by Tucker Robinson for Dan and Linda Macedo, with both entries scoring 664. Magical Katt went on to dominate the Intermediate Open Derby. Roanmeo, owned by SC Ranch Co., Inc. and shown by Charles Stevens, claimed the Limited Open Derby title as well as the Non Pro Derby, while Jewel Rey Von, ridden by Trevor Haught for Chloe Smith, earned the Level 1 Open Derby championship. In the boxing division, Miss New Scooty, ridden by Madison Jones, delivered a standout performance to win the Non Pro Boxing Derby.

One of the most anticipated events of the week, the Ronnie Richards Memorial Open Bridle, presented by the Double R Ranch, once again honored the late horseman’s legacy. This year, the title went to Smoketta Cat, ridden by Jim Spence for owners Terry and Annette Christiansen. The arena was electric as riders delivered spectacular fence work, culminating in an unforgettable run-off between Spence and Phillip Ralls that had the crowd on its feet. The championship performance will be remembered as one of the highlight moments of the show.

The Fall Classic also featured a robust slate of horse show classes supported by Gould Auctions, Les Oswald Performance Horses, and Silver Star Saddlery, each proudly sponsoring their respective divisions and celebrating standout performances throughout the week.

Gould Auctions, sponsor of the Open Hackamore and Open Two Rein, cheered on winners Ron Emmons riding CR Tuff N Stylish for owner Daniel Perez in the Open Two Rein, and Tina Robinson riding Yakety Yak for owner Avalon Goldstein in the Open Hackamore.

Les Oswald Performance Horses, sponsor of the Non Pro Boxing divisions, celebrated victories from Jenna Maxine Pankey with Wood U Just Do It in the Non Pro Boxing Intermediate & Limited, and Daniel Perez aboard Jule Of A Timein the Select Non Pro Boxing.

Silver Star Saddlery, sponsor of the Non Pro Bridle divisions and Non Pro Box Drive, applauded wins by Colette Barnicoat with Bet Hesa Autumn in the Non Pro Bridle, Jayson J. Fisher with Wood U Just Do It in the Select Non Pro Bridle, and Alaine Hu riding Minimints in the Non Pro Box Drive.

Their collective support elevated the quality of competition, footing, and communication throughout the event.

Outside the arena, exhibitors and guests enjoyed a full week of hospitality events that brought the community together. The festivities opened with a Mexican Fiesta reception hosted by Bonnie Marie’s Catering, followed by a hosted bar from Triple Crown Feeds during the Ronnie Richards Memorial Open Bridle. Midweek, a wine tasting and hors d’oeuvres evening—courtesy of the California Mid-State Fair and Ken Wold Training Stables—added a special touch to Thursday’s schedule. The week wrapped up with the highly anticipated Awards BBQ, generously sponsored by the San Luis Obispo County Cattlemen’s Association, celebrating champions from the Futurity, Derby, and Ronnie Richards Memorial divisions.

The 2025 CRCHA Fall Classic Snaffle Bit Futurity, Derby, and Horse Show marked another milestone year for the association, blending tradition, competition, and community in a way that continues to elevate reined cow horse sport in California. CRCHA looks forward to welcoming exhibitors back in 2026 and remains committed to preserving the vaquero tradition while supporting the next generation of champions.
